Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why choose «Fenêtres sur Québec»?

Your guide Christian has lived in Quebec City for almost 45 years and has been in love with it since the first minute. When choosing «Fenêtres sur Québec», you’re choosing an intense passion for the city, an in-depth knowledge of its history and a deep desire to make all those who have the privilege of visiting it lovers of the city themselves.

  • Where do the tours start?

The starting point for guided tours will vary occasionally, but most of the tours will begin in front of the Champlain Monument near Château Frontenac. If your accommodation is located in Old Quebec, your guide will be happy to join you. If you prefer another starting point, it’s perfectly OK also. The tour will be adjusted accordingly, to make sure you’ll see all major sites.

  • Which sites are included in the tours?

All important sites in Old Quebec will be part of the guided tours. The fortifications, Dufferin Terrace, Château Frontenac, Place Royale, Quebec Seminary, etc. are places you will see during the tour, in addition to several other important sites and monuments.

During a private tour, the circuit will be adjusted according to your preferences (New France, British regime, military history, architecture, etc.). There is therefore no pre-determined circuit. You can rest assured that major sites, buildings and monuments are important and they will be included.

  • What's the walking pace of the tours?

All tours are walking tours, this is by far the best way to discover the old city. The distance traveled will vary a little depending on the circuit but is usually between 3 and 4 km, over a period of 2 hours or more. Obviously, your guide will adapt to the pace of each group.

Quebec City has an Upper Town and a Lower Town. In most cases, the circuits will be from top to bottom, mostly downhill. But there could be a few sectors that are uphill. Make sure you wear comfortable shoes. Your comfort is more important than your style when you visit Quebec City.

  • What happens if it rains?

Tours will happen, rain or shine. The changing weather is part of Quebec City's reality and charm. There is no bad weather, only people who are not dressed to cope with it.

Your guide is ready to show you around the city despite the rain and guarantees you a visit as interesting as it is when the sun is shining. He will make stops in places that will allow you to be sheltered from the rain, as much as possible. Bring an umbrella or wear a good rain jacket and you’ll be good to go. Most of the best memories in life are created in less than ideal conditions.

  • What's the canceling policy?

Payment is required when booking your tour, at least 72 hours in advance. You will be able to cancel up to 72 hours before the tour, for a full refund. After this deadline, the payment will be kept in full, whether you are present or not for your tour.
